Candidate for Parma City Council Ward 1
Proven Leadership, Dedicated to Serving the People
August 2023, Parma faced a devastating 100-year flood. That night, around 10:00 p.m., I received a call from an 80-year-old woman living alone, overwhelmed and unsure of what to do. Without hesitation, I got in my car and drove to the affected neighborhood. By the time I arrived, she had received the help and guidance she needed. Yet, standing there, witnessing the resilience and vulnerability of my neighbors, I realized the profound impact of serving as a councilperson. It matters deeply.
Having lived in Parma for over 30 years, I understand the significance of our city council's role in shaping policies that reflect the needs and diversity of our community. Parma is a vibrant tapestry of unique perspectives, experiences, and ideas. When harnessed collectively, these elements create opportunities for inclusivity, growth, and meaningful progress.
Growing up in a working-class, union, Democratic household instilled in me the values of perseverance, empathy, and resilience. My parents’ unwavering support taught me to face adversity with strength—whether it was food insecurity, utility struggles, or housing concerns. These experiences contribute to me being a steadfast advocate for my fellow Parma residents.
After moving to Ohio, I applied my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering within the Paints and Coatings industry. My career path led me to the role of Global Polymer Technology Manager, where I managed multimillion-dollar projects across languages and cultures. This role demanded not just technical expertise but the ability to collaborate effectively with people from all backgrounds. This experience honed my skills in problem-solving, leadership, and strategic decision-making—qualities I bring to the Parma City Council.
I believe that nothing is more important on this earth than the well-being of another human being. True community thrives when every voice is heard, and every person has a seat at the table. I am committed to remaining responsive, compassionate, and to being an unwavering voice for Ward 1 in Parma, Ohio.
